r&m/b&j: an assignment utilizing lines
~ a very interesting change in our capitalist country is the change in animated tv shows. television shows over time have countlessly grown more cynical, twisted, existential, and just down right ADULT. no longer your colorful, light hearted, and childishly comedic 15 minutes of entertainment. no longer can parents consciously leave their child in a room with a remote that unlocks some of this worlds darkest and most terrifying realities. to children and parents across the nation, this is a tragedy. however to young, curious, brains such as mine, shows that exemplify the oh so real existential horrors of life are a goldmine. as we brace ourselves to take over the world, we find these shows to be somewhat of a mental, and emotional roadmap to guide us through the treacherous abyss that is life. besides, they are pretty hilarious too. well now to the point, rick & morty and bojack horseman are leading an army of adult cartoons. through this project i aimed to keep track of certain comments made by different characters, ultimately segregating them as either existentially nihilistic, or pure statements. then drawing a different line for each kind of comment made. afterwards you see an army of lines that physical bring to life, the dark undertones of these delicious television shows. ~
? what's ya truth ?
~ we live and have lived in a society that worships what “they” have to say or what “they” think about certain events that transpire. they of course, is the collective band of unknown people that give us our media, our rules and our regulations. we consume and consume and nobody stops to question it. for this assignment i wanted to take a stance against the horrible and oh so controlling “they”. i call this paper “what’s ya truth?”. i wished to display a newspaper bogged down with the consistent negativity that plagues our country and simply put, decided to create my own version by marking out things i didn’t find productive or useful and boxing in things i think are worth examining. creating my own version of this paper allowed me to have a different and much more enjoyable experience reading the paper. ~
design
~ when tasked to create 3 different designs with different objects i almost automatically knew what i liked. i loved the way wine bottles looked, cigarettes & i have a funny relationship, and prince is the greatest artist to ever live. see, very easy. i built a design that touches on repition of the object, explaining why there are so many within each row. ~
